Bad ant infestation in a street in Avalon. This was one of the worst ant infestations we have ever come across. The ants were in every area of 2 houses side by side & we also treated a 3rd neighbouring house on the same day, which wasn't quite as bad, but we were asked to treat it too, as it had recently been treated by another company unsuccessfully.
In these situations it is no good just spraying as you might for a general pest treatment. You need to spend time searching for the ants throughout the property & treating them with products specifically designed to eliminate ants, such as gels, granular baits & non-repellent ant liquid treatments. This treatment to 3 houses took me 8 HOURS, but spending time on the day meant that we didn't get a call back. |

Eliminated termite nest inside a house in Avalon. This video shows the inside of a termite nest, which had formed inside a bedroom cupboard in a house in Avalon.
Once we were sure we had eliminated the termite colony, we removed all of the mud material, to reveal the central chamber where the queen termite had been housed. The video also shows dead termites showing the effects of the Exterra bait we had used to eliminate the colony |

Termites under a house in Belrose.Active termites were found under this house in Belrose. They were into the timber items stored in this area. As the video shows, there were more active termites found in an old wardrobe, standing against the foundation wall. After eating out the wardrobe, they proceeded to climb the foundation wall, using a mud tunnel, eventually tracking to the interior of the house and then up into the roof timbers.
The video clearly shows why it is never a good idea to store any timber items, or other cellulose items, such as paper and cardboard, on the ground, under your house. If you have a high sub-floor foundation area, such as the one in the video and you must store timber items, we recommend that you at least elevate them off the ground and away from the walls. |

Gel Bait for Black House AntsThis is a video showing Black house ants eating Optigard gel bait. They suck the liquid from the gel and carry it back to the nest. It is important to search for the source of the ant trails as part of any ant treatment and place the gel bait accordingly. Black house ants are often found under plant pots, rocks, pavers and inside panels of external building cladding

Termite Colony Inside a TreeHere we see a termite colony inside a tree, after we have drilled into the centre [heartwood] We can see the soldier termites moving along the drill hole up to 400mm inside the tree.
|
|
A Termite Colony SearchTo conduct a termite colony search, I firstly drill several holes into the centre [heartwood] of the tree & insert a temperature probe. If the temperature rises sufficiently, I know I am close to the termite Queen. Then I treat the termite colony with a non-repellant termiticide & seal the drill holes, so as not to harm the tree. The treatment is checked after 4 weeks.

Termite Nest in BilgolaThis termite nest in Bilgola is of the Nasutitermes Walkerei species. The nest is approximately 2 metres tall.
|
|
Nasutitermes Species TermitesNasutitermes species termites are fairly easy to treat, when you can directly treat the nest. The 2 species we most often treat are Nasutitermes Exitiosis, which builds a large ground mound, or Nasutitermes Walkerei. They build their nest to the exterior of a stump or tree, as seen in this video. Openings are made in the nest, or into the mud trails on the tree, if unable to reach the nest. These openings are then injected with a non-repellant termiticide [Fipronil]
The termites are unaware of it, so freely travel through it. They then transfer it to other individuals in the colony. After 4 weeks we return to check the treatment, remove the nest if possible & break down the mud tunnels. |

Thermal Imaging CameraA thermal imaging camera is a great tool for termite detection. Eradicator Pest Services uses the Flir E8 model, which is top of the range for use in the pest control industry.
The thermal imaging camera detects the heat generated by termites. When used correctly, termite activity can be seen in concealed areas, such as wall cavities & can even detect termite colonies inside trees. |
